Samsung Electronics America Shows Four LED/LCD Displays at InfoComm 2011

Samsung Electronics America Shows Four LED/LCD Displays at InfoComm 2011

Samsung Electronics America Inc., has shown four new lines of Led/LCD commercial displays during InfoComm 2011 in Orlando, FL, June 15-17 and available through Samsung distributors and resellers in Q3 2011.

The four new lines including Samsung HE, ME, UE and UD Series incorporate LED-backlight technology that offers many benefits over traditional Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp backLighting.

With the ME and UE Series benefitting from a high 120Hz and 240Hz refresh rate, respectively, there is smoother scrolling text and reduced motion blur in digital signage messaging. With native contrast ratios of up to 5,000:1, the LED/LCD displays produce more realistic images.

Compared to conventional CCFL-backlit LCD displays, the technology allows for reduced energy consumption ranging from 30-50 percent. In addition, the displays deliver lower total cost of ownership by combining energy savings with reductions in carbon emissions.

Hollywood Fringe-sponsor ETC to Show Latest LED Lighting, June 23rd, ArtWorks Theatre

‘Being on the fringe’ can mean being on the cutting edge of creativity – out where the new happens. Entertainment-technology company ETC (Electronic Theatre Controls, Inc.) loves the fringe. It’s the sweet spot of innovation. This year ETC will not only help light up the stages of the Hollywood Fringe Festival with ETC equipment but also present their own show -- the “Layers of Light” Selador® Led lighting presentation. Open to the public but of extra interest to production people throughout the entertainment industry, this lightshow/product demonstration will be held at Fringe Central, in the ArtWorks Theatre, 6569 Santa Monica Boulevard, in Hollywood.

There will be three show times for the “Layers of Light” demonstrations on Thursday, June 23rd, 2011: 10:00am, 11:30am, and 1:00pm. ETC encourages people to drop in any time between 10:00am-3:00pm to see the new ETC Lighting gear on display, ask questions, and request further demos.

ETC West’s field-project coordinators David Hilton and Lowell Olcott will present the scene-stealing newest-of-the-new ETC lighting fixtures: Desire™ Led luminaires.

An added attraction: “Layers of Light” attendees will have the chance to win an ETC Source Four® PAR™ light fixture with lens kit. ETC will give away three Source Four PARs via random drawings during show times. Anyone who signs up for a ‘MyETC’ account (via www.etcconnect.com) will be entered into the drawing. They must be present at one of the “Layers of Light” Fringe shows to win.

Dave McKeever, Producing Director of The Hollywood Fringe Festival appreciates the passionate involvement of sponsors like ETC: "We are so pleased to be working with the premier provider of lighting instruments and control systems. Our participants and I are amazed at the diversity of lighting possibilities offered by these Selador LED instruments. Our partnership with ETC is truly making the Fringe a brighter place."

As an aside program note: ETC is especially proud to be on the fringe with a Fringe artist in its own family. Playwright Catherine Pelonero, whose comedy Another Effing Family Drama will show June 11, 16, 18, 25, and 26 at Fringe Central, is employed with the company.

Besides the popular Selador and Source Four lines, ETC entertainment products also include the Eos® and Congo® lighting-control console lines, Sensor®  dimming systems, and ETC Rigging™.

Cree Ups the Performance of XLamp® MX-6 LEDs—Includes ENERGY STAR™ LM-80 Data

Cree, Inc. (Nasdaq: CREE) has further simplified indoor Led fixture design with its newly optimized XLamp® MX-6 LEDs, which feature higher flux options, new, longer lifetime estimates and higher CRI options. Cree has also completed LM-80 testing on MX-6 LEDs, which can enable quicker time to market for manufacturers designing ENERGY STAR®-rated fixtures.

“These MX-6 LED improvements are proof of Cree’s commitment to enabling our customers’ success in Led lighting,” said Paul Thieken, Cree director of marketing, LED components. “By delivering high efficacy, uniform light output and extended lifetime, as well as completed LM-80 data, MX-6 LEDs are an ideal choice for manufacturers pursuing ENERGY STAR®-qualified indoor LED fixtures such as cove, wall washing, under-cabinet or desk lamps.”

XLamp MX-6 LEDs are now available in higher flux order codes offering light output of up to 122 lumens at 300 mA in cool white (6000K) and up to 100 lumens at 300 mA in warm white (3000 K). MX-6 LEDs are also available with 80 CRI minimum in warm white (2600 K – 4300 K) for both standard and high-voltage configurations.

Based on LM-80 extrapolations and under normal operating conditions, MX-6 LEDs can provide an L70 lifetime of more than 150,000 hours using ENERGY STAR lifetime prediction methods. If used 24-hours-a-day, that equates to more than 17 years.

XLamp MX-6 LEDs with 80-CRI minimum or higher flux bins are also available in sample quantities immediately and production quantities with standard lead times.
